What is Consensus Trivia?

Consensus Trivia is a fast-paced, buzzer-based trivia format for teams of four. Players are tested on their knowledge, anticipation and teamwork while racing to answer questions on all manner of curricular and extracurricular topics: from history to hockey, celebrity news to chemistry, and beyond.

The members of our executive team are all former trivia players ourselves, and our love for trivia has been the primary motivation behind everything we do. Accordingly, we pledge to always put our players first by offering in-person play, financial accessibility for all schools, equitable qualification mechanisms, and, of course, the highest quality trivia available.

Our organization is federally registered as a not-for-profit corporation, and the revenue we generate will go towards such ends as paying our writers, securing room bookings for our tournaments, and saving to fund future expansions of our events into more regions.

Consensus Trivia is produced with the knowledge and support of Reach for the Top.

Who can play Consensus Trivia?

Consensus Trivia runs both a high school and a post-secondary circuit, each culminating in their own annual championship event. The circuits are run on difficulty-adjusted versions of the same questions. There will also occasionally be one-off tournaments aimed at novice post-secondary students, as well as open tournaments that permit both students and non-students to play.

Generally, high school students must be enrolled full-time to participate in the high school circuit, and post-secondary students must be enrolled full-time to participate in the post-secondary circuit. Post-secondary students currently on co-op terms who are otherwise enrolled full-time are eligible to play.

How can I register my high school team(s)?

Each tournament will have its own website page with a link to a registration form, as well as logistical information such as location, time, and payment options. Each high school must bring at least one adult supervisor. Consensus Trivia has no annual fee or subscription, so you are free to only register and pay for the events you will actually play.

How can I register my post-secondary team(s)?

Each tournament will have its own website page with a link to a registration form, as well as logistical information such as location, time, and payment options. Consensus Trivia has no annual fee or subscription, so you are free to only register and pay for the events you will actually play.

How can I volunteer for one of your tournaments?

We are always looking for volunteers to read and scorekeep at our tournaments. Email us with your name, current city, and any current or past trivia team affiliations, and we'll reach out to you when a tournament is coming up. Note that volunteers must be 18 or older and may not be currently enrolled in high school.

What do I do if I have more questions?

Whether you are a player or a coach, feel free to reach out to us via email with any questions, concerns, or feedback. We'll respond to you as soon as possible.
